A new dancing organism

As we heard during our early science classes at school, life forms itself from one cell, into two cells, into many cells, until this multiplication reaches the level where we have a real living organism. A living organism with birth rights.

That is that kind of miracle which has occurred in Kassel, thanks to the dance free scene residents in town.

A wonderful dance project called Tanzwerk Kassel. It is a dancing organism made of 16 incredible and unique cells, the freelance dance artists from Kassel, who decided to get together and start something completely new and refreshing for the dance scene in Kassel. After 10 years of laying foundations and investing, multiplication has manifested.

This unique constellation will present itself, for the first time together in the form of a brand-new dance festival TANZ*WERKE 2021- short piece edition. The festival is the result of the hard work of the artists themselves supported by the City of Kassel, under the artistic direction of Raffaele Irace, who was invited by the organization, Tanzwerk Kassel e.V. to help in developing an artistic vision for this very first edition of the festival.
The festival is a direct emanation of this new organism, Tanzwerk Kassel.

During the festival you will be able to enjoy a very diverse contemporary dance program, created by nine different choreographers which are also often dancing as well for their colleagues.
The following artists will be on stage during the festival:

Right from the start the festival becomes a platform that will allow a selected group of artists to present their works at the Gallus Theater in Frankfurt am Main during the theatrical season 21/22.
In this sense the festival Tanz*Werke 2021 will initiate a process of dance networking that starting from the Land of Hessen has the opportunity to spread in Germany and abroad.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this year the festival will be recorded and then streamed online on Youtube, from the 18 to the 21 of March, at 7:30 PM (CET).
The audience will have the opportunity to buy a ticket for the viewing of the shows directly through our website (link website). After purchasing the ticket, the audience will be invited to join a Zoom meeting together with the festival curator Raffaele Irace, other members of the audience in tele-presence, and the artists who will perform for the night.
After an introduction to the show made by the festival curator, the audience will be directed to an external link on YouTube, where it will be possible to watch everybody together the online streaming of the dance show.
After the show is finished, the audience will have the time, circa 3 minutes, to come back to the Zoom meeting, during which there will be together with the choreographers and the dancers, the artist’s talk with the audience.
