»Dance Bridge Frankfurt-Kassel«

a dance evening of the free scenes

Friday, 03/18/2022 - 20:00

Saturday, 03/19/2022 - 20:00

Frankfurt's independent scene meets Kassel's independent scene - a supra-regional, cultural, dance exchange. Initially stimulated by the festival TANZ*WERKE 2021 - short piece edition, curated by our program director Tanz Raffaele Irace, a cooperation network was created that is now putting out feelers in the direction of Frankfurt. Both evenings offer the audience the opportunity to get to know a lively variety of new dance influences. The supra-regional exchange should also enable further cooperation between independent artists in Kassel and Frankfurt.

Each of the two evenings contains a specially designed program. A total of seven dance pieces from Kassel and two from Frankfurt will be presented. The protagonists are Bettina Helmrich, Chiara Leonardi, Aurora Magrì, Dalia Velandia, Paula Moré, Heike Wrede, Deborah Smith Wicke, Christa Stöffelbauer, Velia Malika Hahnemann, Bene Schuba, Agnetha Jaunich, Hannah Breuker, Mareike Steffens from Kassel and Abril Lukac, Luciano Baptiste, Maria Kobzeva and Sandra Domnick from Frankurt.

There has been a lively and constantly growing free contemporary dance scene in Kassel for 25 years. The cultural life of the city is enriched by diverse and exciting dance productions as well as cultural education offers. Since it was founded 10 years ago, tanz*werk kassel has been pursuing the goal of further improving the working conditions for producers in the independent scene and of strengthening contemporary dance in Kassel and the region as an important part of culture. Since 2019, the tanz*werk kassel has been working as a non-profit association for the development of future-oriented structures for the contemporary dance scene in Kassel. Thanks to the support of Diehl+Ritter/Tanzpakt Reconnect, as part of the New Start Culture initiative, tanz*werk Kassel is currently actively involved in the realization of a dance house for the independent dance scene in Kassel. In our city, the association ID_Frankfurt eV has taken a similar path starting this season with the realization of the Tanzhaus Frankfurt Rhein-Main project. The projects of tanz*werk also include the performance series "Sneaky Leaks" in public space in Kassel and the virtual format Tanzvitrine, which includes videos of one or more artists that can be viewed online.
