G A B • B R A N C O, ist eine brasilianische feministische Künstlerin und Aktivistin, die zwischen Deutschland und den Niederlanden lebt. Sie ist Masterstudentin 2021-23 an ArtEZ-Arnhem im Programm Home of Performance Practice. Zuvor studierte sie an PReS - Postgraduate Residence Studios and Performance Research Studies, 2019-20, veranstaltet von Halle2 / Sozo Visions in Motion, Kassel (GE). Sie ist zertifiziert in Klauss Vianna Technique (KVT) - brasilianischer zeitgenössischer Tanz und somatische Technik, von Salão do Movimento, Campinas (BR); und sie hat einen BA in Tanz, 2011-14, und einen Lehrabschluss in Kunst-Tanz, 2011-16 von UNICAMP (BR).

In den letzten Jahren hat sie in verschiedenen Rollen als Regisseurin, Dramaturgin, Choreografin, Performerin, Forscherin, Kulturproduzentin, KVT-Lehrerin und Mentorin für junge Macher gearbeitet. In ihren künstlerischen und theoretischen Arbeiten nähert sie sich der Subversion des TRIAD: Kolonisation, Kapitalismus und weiße Vorherrschaft, wie sie es in ihrer aktuellen Masterarbeit über die Spaltpraxis definiert hat. Sie hinterfragt ständig sozio-politische Themen und den Einfluss der westlichen Kultur aus einer antikolonialistischen und autoethnographischen Perspektive, indem sie die Blicke der Marginalisierten einbezieht, um in ihren Kreationen in eine kritische Analyse einzutauchen. Zwischen Tanz, Plansequenzfilmen, Performances, gesprochenen Worten, Poesie, Vokalisationen und radikaler Live-Kunst ist sie daran interessiert, ihre schriftstellerischen Arbeiten durch Trans-/Cross-Disziplinarität zu entfalten, wobei sie sich eher auf den Prozess als auf das Ergebnis konzentriert, um mit der kapitalistischen Norm der Produktivität und der Idee des Machers zu brechen, die nur durch weitere Spezialisierung funktioniert.
In Brasilien entwickelte sie ihre auf KVT basierende Bewegungsforschung "Body State Through Memories" während zweier künstlerischer Aufenthalte in São Paulo am CRDSP (2016-17) und in Lugarização, veranstaltet von der Tanz- und Theaterkompanie Cia Corpos Nômades (2017-18). Sie arbeitete mit verschiedenen Künstlern zusammen und war Tänzerin und Produktionsassistentin bei der Jorge Garcia Companhia de Dança (2016-19), Tänzerin bei der Cia Fragmento de Dança (2019), Produzentin bei Capital35 (2017-18), Mentorin für aufstrebende Künstler und Gruppen beim VOCACIONAL-Programm des Kulturministeriums von São Paulo (2019) und KVT-Lehrerin an verschiedenen Orten. Sie gründete das feministische Kollektiv Milionésima Cia, das mit hybriden Studien, Interventionen, Frauenkreisen und Tanzkreationen auf der Grundlage von Ethnografie arbeitete und sich auf die Aussagen und Erfahrungen von Frauen in der Stadt São Paulo konzentrierte.

In Deutschland hat sie zusammen mit Christa Stoeffelbauer (AT) und Júlia Iwanaga (BR) das künstlerische Kollektiv core-traverse gegründet, mit dem sie das vom Kulturamt Kassel und dem Hessischen Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst geförderte Projekt "Women's Veiled Path" leitete. Zu ihren letzten schriftstellerischen Arbeiten gehören "The ANTI-(dote)- WEAPON BODY" (Performance, 2022) - Arnheim (NL); "Until I" (Performance, 2022) - Venedig (IT), "Lanço o Vetor Sensível to avoid the end of the world horror" (radikale Live Art, 2022) - Arnheim (NL); "Because I'm not what you reflect on me as a Brazilian" (Slam-Poetry, 2022) - Arnheim (NL); "Xeno(project)phobia" (Tanz), 2021 - unterstützt von Tanz*Werk Kassel (GE); "How can I not reproduce the Coloniser's behaviour? G A B • B R A N C O, is a Brazilian feminist artist diffuser and activist immigrant living in between Germany and The Netherlands. She is a Master student, 2021-23 at ArtEZ-Arnhem in the program Home of Performance Practice. Previously, she studied at PReS – Postgraduate Residence Studios and Performance Research Studies, 2019-20, hosted by Halle2 / Sozo Visions in Motion, Kassel (GE). She is certified on Klauss Vianna Technique (KVT) – Brazilian contemporary dance and Somatic technique, by Salão do Movimento, Campinas (BR); and she has a BA in Dance, 2011-14, and Teaching Degree in Arts-Dance, 2011-16 from UNICAMP (BR).

Throughout the last years she's been working on multiple roles as director, dramaturg, choreographer, performer, researcher, cultural producer, KVT teacher and mentor for young makers. In her artistic and theoretical works, she is driven to approach the subversion of the TRIAD: Colonisation, Capitalism, and White Supremacy, as she has been defining in her actual Master thesis on the fissure practice. She is constantly questioning socio-political issues and the impact of Western Culture through an anti-colonialist, and autoethnographic perspective, embracing the marginalised gazes to immerse herself in a critical analysis in her creations. In between dance, plan sequence films, performances, spoken words, poetry, vocalisations, and radical live art, she is interested to unfold her authorial works through trans/crossdisciplinarity focusing on the process rather the outcome in order to disrupt with capitalist norm of productivity and the idea on the doer that only operates through specialising oneself further.
In Brazil she developed her movement research “Body State Through Memories” based on KVT, during two artistic residencies in São Paulo at CRDSP, 2016-17, and Lugarização hosted by the dance and theatre company Cia Corpos Nômades, 2017- 18. She collaborated with several artists and worked as a dancer and producer assistant at Jorge Garcia Companhia de Dança, 2016-19; dancer at Cia Fragmento de Dança, 2019; producer at Capital35, 2017-18, as a mentor with emergent artists and groups at VOCACIONAL program from the Cultural Department of São Paulo, 2019; and as a KVT teacher in several places. She founded the feminist collective Milionésima Cia which worked in hybrid studies, interventions, women circles, and dance creations based on ethnography focusing on women’s testimonies and experiences lived in the city of São Paulo.

In Germany, she has co-founded core•traverse artistic collective together with Christa Stoeffelbauer (AT) and Júlia Iwanaga (BR) by which she directed the project “Women’s Veiled Path” funded by Kulturamt Kassel and Hessisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst.
